Outlook Web Access

Frequently Asked Questions about Outlook Web Access (OWA).

Do I need to be connected to the State of New Hampshire network (in building or VPN connected) to use OWA?

No, as long as you have a stable internet connection you should be able to access OWA.

Can I use OWA on a non-state device?

In general we do not allow State of New Hampshire business to be conducted on non-state devices. But, the use of OWA for basic email and calendar functions is allowed. Be aware that:

  • Storing work documents that you have received via OWA on your personal device will put it in scope for any right to know requests and litigation related legal discovery that you or your agency is in scope for.
  • Storing work documents that you have received via OWA on your personal device may put you out of compliance with one or more federal security and privacy standards. Non-compliance with these standards could put your agency at risk.
  • Storing work documents that you have received via OWA on your personal device will put you out of compliance with the statewide computer use policy.
  • Sending documents from your personal computer may create cybersecurity risk on the state network by introducing malware that may be on your home network into the state network. This would be traceable.
Will I be able to access my archived email from OWA?
